Welcome back to my second episode of Filmwhys Raw, where instead of discussing two movies I talk with a guest or two about a random movie-related topic. This time around my guests are Jason Soto from Your Face! and Clint Worthington of Alcohollywood and we talk a little bit about theaters and film festivals in and around Chicago and also get into some B-movie talk. Filmwhys #22 Before Sunrise and The Incredibles
It’s time once again for another episode of Filmwhys. This time around I’m joined by guest JD Duran from Insession Film as well as their podcast. He asks me why I haven’t seen Before Sunrise, Richard Linklater’s film that started a trilogy about a simple couple played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy who spend the night walking around Vienna and mainly just talking to each other about anything and everything. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen The Incredibles, Pixar’s love letter to superheroes combined with a smart script from also-director Brad Bird touching on much more common family issues like fitting in, a midlife crisis, and possible infidelity.
Filmwhys Raw #1
Welcome to a new format for Filmwhys that will hopefully make this podcast weekly once again. I will be alternating between the standard format of Filmwhys where I take a look at two movies with a single guest, and these Filmwhys Raw which might have two or three guests and it’s more of a free-flowing conversation with some movie-related topic to get us started. For this premier episode I’ve brought back the Vern from The Vern’s Video Vangaurd among other sites and we talk about “Making Time for Movies” while going off on a few other tangents including the origin of both of our online names. Welcome to another episode of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest John LaRue of The Droid You’re Looking For asks me why I haven’t seen The Seventh Seal, a classic Ingmar Bergman film with Max Von Sydow best known for the scenes where he is playing a game of chess with Death. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Batman: The Movie, the classic theatrical production spun off of the first season of the campy TV show from the 60’s.

Filmwhys #20 Double Indemnity and the Pumaman
Welcome to yet another episode of Filmwhys, aka the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast. I’m trying to get into a more regular schedule having a new episode up every two weeks on Saturday, and hopefully there’s something extra I’m working on coming in the new year. This episode my guest is Will from Exploding Helicopter who asks me why I haven’t seen Double Indemntiy, the great film noir thriller from the brilliant director Billy Wilder and in return I ask him why he hasn’t seen The Pumaman which doesn’t have quite as good of a pedigree, but was featured on an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. It’s a so-bad-it’s-good movie with a low budget, cheesy acting, and a crazy plot.

Filmwhys #19 The Gold Rush and The Crow
I’m pleased to have another episode of Filmwhys ready to go for you today. I’m joined by Todd Liebenow of Forgotten Films who asks me why I haven’t seen the Gold Rush, one of Charlie Chaplin’s greatest films from the silent era featuring his famous little tramp character. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen The Crow, the gothic supernatural revenge tale about a man who was killed along with his fiance and is brought back to life by a Crow in order to seek vengeance, it’s also the final film role of Brandon Lee who tragically died during filming.

Filmwhys #18 The Mexican and Thor the Dark World
Apologies for the delayed post, but I’m excited to bring a slight change-up to my normal Filmwhys format. Instead of having my guest introduce me to one of their favorite movies that I’ve never seen, I decided it was time to share one of my favorite non-superhero movies to my guest that they’ve never seen. And this time around my guest is the Vern from Vern’s Video Vanguard and a few other sites and I ask him why he hasn’t seen the Mexican, one of Gore Verbinski’s earlier movies before he went on to direct the Pirates of Caribean movies with Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, James Gandolfini, and a really sweet looking classic pistol. And we both watch the current theatrical release Thor The Dark World.

Sorry for the late episode, but I’m back once again with another episode of Filmwhys, aka the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast. This week my guest is Ryan C of Trash Film Guru among other sites who asks me the question why haven’t I seen The Manchurian Candidate, the original one with Frank Sinatra, one of the classic thrillers of the time. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Dredd, a great adaptation of the sci-fi comic that got somewhat overlooked last year but has found a home since it hit home video.

Filmwhys #16 North by Northwest and Persepolis
I’m back once again with another episode of Filmwhys, aka the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast. This week my guest is Pat McDonnell of 100 Years of Movies who asks me the question why haven’t I seen North by Northwest, Hitchcock’s classic Cary Grant movie featuring the famous scene of him being chased by a cropduster in the middle of an open field. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen the animated graphic novel adaptation of Marjan Satrapi’s autobiographical Persepolis where she follows her early life living in Iran during a revolution and a war and the oppression of the Islamic Fundamentalists while she is an outspoken woman who eventually flees to spend time in France.

Filmwhys #15 Inception and Special
It’s time once again to ask the question why I haven’t seen some movie or another. This episode features someone I’ve been collaborating with for a while now, Terrence Faulkner over at The Focused Filmographer where each week we comment on the new movie posters. Today he asks me why I haven’t seen Inception if I’m such a fan of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, his epic and multilayered vision of a heist within a dreamscape. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Special, a low budget film about a parking enforcement officer named Les who joins a drug study only to have them give him the delusion of having super powers.
