Filmwhys #33 The Graduate and All-Star Superman
Episode 33 of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest is Bruce Leslie from the Heroes and Villains Podcast and the Hero Movie Podcast who asks me why I haven’t seen the Graduate, the classic comedy that gave Dustin Hoffman his breakout role and made the name Mrs. Robinson famous. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen All-Star Superman, the DC Animation adaptation from a well known comic book story arc about Superman’s last days on Earth from writer Grant Morrison.

Filmwhys Extra #12 Anime Superheroes
First off, I’d like to apologize for the recent lack of content. Been busy lately, and aside from being busy I’ve been watching the 1990’s Flash TV show which takes up a lot more viewing time than a movie to do a single post but I should have that one done sometime next week. I’ve also lost the motherboard on my main computer so that’s slowed me down a bit as I’m now working with my laptop hooked up to my main monitor. Anyway, I’ve got another episode of Filmwhys Extra for you here! Episode 12 of Filmwhys Extra where my guests are Jenn from Reappropriate.co and Stephen from Silver Emulsion and we spend some time talking about anime and how it compares to western ideas of superheroes, how they’re connected, how they’re influenced, how they influence, and whatever else we decide to talk about.

Filmwhys #32: The Big Lebowski and Flash Gordon
Episode 32 of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest is Nolahn as the last member of Your Face! to be a guest on this show and he asks me why I haven’t seen The Big Lebowski, the classic slacker/bowler/stoner comedy from the Coen Brothers starring the Dude. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Flash Gordon, the campy sci-fi movie starring the music from Queen and star quarterback from the New York Jets Flash Gordon which was recently referenced heavily in Seth MacFarlane’s Ted.

Filmwhys Extra #11 Superheroes and Our Kids
Episode #11 of Filmwhys Extra where my guest is Julz Hendricks who contributes to many sites including Bleeding Cool, Chickcast, but you can probably best find her on Twitter. Both of us have young children who love superheroes and love to watch them on TV and in movies. But this is a world full of PG-13 superhero movies that often have more death and violence than R-rated movies with only the blood removed. She has a 3 year old and a 9 year old while I have a 7 year old and we discuss what they enjoy and how we decide what’s appropriate for them to watch.

Filmwhys #31: To Kill a Mockingbird and Unbreakable
Episode 31 of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest is Jess from French Toast Sunday who asks me why I haven’t seen To Kill a Mockingbird, one of the great classic movies about prejudice through the eyes of a child. And in return I ask her why she hasn’t seen Unbreakable, the great superhero origin story set in the real world by the man who used to be the master of the twist ending M. Night Shyamalan.

Filmwhys Extra #10: Women in Superhero Movies
Welcome to another episode of Filmwhys Extra, the show between my regular episodes of Filmwhys where I don’t talk about two different movies with a guest, but instead have an interview, a roundtable discussion on a film related topic, or something else entirely. This episode I discussed the general concept of women in superhero movies. Why there are so few, if anything has been moving towards change, and what might happen in the future. My guest this time around is Mirella Snape from Yam Mag.

Filmwhys #30: The Thing and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
It’s time once again for another episode of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest is Lackey from The Nightmare Gallery who asks me why I haven’t seen John Carpenter’s The Thing from 1982 which is a marvel of practical creature effects, tension, and paranoia set in the Antarctic wastes. And in return I ask him why he hasn’t seen Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Edgar Wright’s homage to video games, anime, and comic books as Michael Cera battles seven evil exes in order to win the heart of Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Filmwhys Extra #9: Blind Spots
Welcome to another episode of Filmwhys Extra, the show between my regular episodes of Filmwhys where I don’t talk about two different movies with a guest, but instead have an interview, a roundtable discussion on a film related topic, or something else entirely. This episode I discussed a major part of the concept of the entire show itself, the Filmwhys or Blind Spot, which is a movie that you’ve never seen but feel like you should have seen already. My guests are Ryan McNeil from The Matinee and Steve Honeywell from 1001Plus. It’s a fun discussion so I hope you will listen.

Filmwhys #29: Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Crow: Wicked Prayer
Episode 29 of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest JD Duran of InSession Film asks me why I haven’t seen the original 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a film that has been remade at least three times with themes of distrust and an undercurrent of the communist threat. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen the Crow: Wicked Prayer which is currently the last of the Crow movies and arguably the worst with a cast of actors pulled from the low levels of other sci-fi movies to create something much lesser than the sum of its parts.

Filmwhys Extra #8 Blue Ruin
Welcome to another episode of Filmwhys Extra, the show between my regular episodes of Filmwhys where I don’t talk about two different movies with a guest, but instead have an interview, a roundtable discussion on a film related topic, or something else entirely. This episode I had the pleasure of talking to actor Macon Blair, star of the recent film Blue Ruin which you can watch now on iTunes, about the movie. It’s a fun interview whether you have seen the movie or not.
