I’m expanding my borders

I think I’ve been going a little overboard lately, but it’s all good for now. I’ve recently started contributing over at the Lamb by doing a weekly game and I’m also working on another weekly feature over there. Not only that, but if you haven’t noticed yet, I’ve got a lovely new icon up at the top of the page with an F on it. Click it or click here for this site’s Facebook page. Be sure to “like” it and I’ll also be doing a near-daily game/discussion over there featuring some great minimalist movie posters. Basically I’ll be looking online for minimalist posters that catch my eye but might not be the easiest to recognize what movie they are for, so I’ll blank out the title and see if you can figure it out. I might toss in some real easy ones that I just think look good, so be sure and tell me what you think of the poster too, instead of just guessing the movie.

So what does all this mean for this site? I’m not sure yet, for now it doesn’t mean anything. I’ll still be bringing seven new posts a week, though I may change things up a little bit in the future. My initial goal for this site was to watch and review 100 superhero movies in this first year. I’m currently up to 67 movie reviews including three “Almost Super” posts and not counting my post on several of DC’s animated short films. So in just under half a year, I’m well over halfway to my goal. I’d say that’s pretty good. I’m also extremely happy to see my readership grow. I enjoy getting new comments and likes and watching my site views rise and rise, this site is nearly to 10,000 views. Not only that, but this site got runner up in the recent Lammy awards over on the LAMB site for best Horror blog. Since the campaign is over, I don’t feel the need to call it Sci-Fi/Horror any more. Every other blog in that category reviewed Horror movies to a large degree, and even the presentation video only barely touched upon the Sci-Fi aspect. Major kudos to Jason over at Invasion of the B Movies for winning, it’s a fun look at all of the B movies out there, and there are a lot of them.

This week’s post is a little on the short side because I’ve been drawing a blank lately on what to cover on the weekly blog topic. I’d love to hear your suggestions, what superhero topic would you like to see me talk about? Is there one I’ve already covered that I should revisit? The only thing I’m not planning on doing yet are my top superhero or animated movies, There’s still several of both that I need to visit or revisit before making a top 10, though it will likely be a year-end list. Tomorrow’s review will be the animated Wonder Woman before I go through Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy in reverse order so I can compare the two origin movies back-to-back after the Amazing Spider-Man comes out in theaters. Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.

  1. I love the reverse Raimi idea and connecting it to the new Spiderman release. Congratulations on the Runner-Up award and great to see you expanding in so many ways!

  2. Keep up the great work Bubba. Truly an invaluable part of the LAMB community. By the way, you’re tied for first in my game 😀
