Graphic Horror Blogathon Wrap-Up

March is ending today and with it another year of my Graphic Horror Blogathon. I’d like to thank everyone who participated this year while I myself had some ups and downs. There were some great films selected this time around and I hope it grows to include some more next year and that this will grow as a blogathon and hopefully get more interest in films that don’t actually have any connection to a pre-existing graphic novel or comic book. Make sure you take the time and visit some of the other sites that joined in this year, they are all great and I thank them very much!

Blade

Blade at Tranquil Dreams

Kim checks out the first fairly decent Marvel movie that has surprisingly little to do with superheroes (though Blade was an Avenger at one point I do believe), and while she didn’t enjoy it as much as I did, I think she appreciated it enough to continue on with the series in the near future.

ltroi

Let the Right One In at Vern’s Video Vortex

A Swedish vampire film that I’ve heard a lot of great things about (but haven’t seen myself), Vern takes a look at the only film this year that wasn’t actually based on a graphic novel or comic book character.

Virus

Virus

One of the two bad horror films that I watched, it has a decent concept and some fantastic creature designs but awful acting, action, writing, and direction which basically causes it to fail in every imaginable way.

Dr Giggles

Dr. Giggles

The other of the two bad horror films, though apparently this one has a few more fans. Which I can understand considering it’s a very typical late 80’s early 90’s horror film with a pun spouting killer and plenty of blood, but it doesn’t have much else going for it.

Road to Perdition

Road to Perdition

My final entry and by far my favorite. It’s been a long time coming for me to get around to this film and I wish I had watched it sooner. It’s the least horror, but there’s enough blood and tension and more than enough gorgeous visuals in it to count.

And you can also take a look back at the posts that I featured in the first week of the blogathon, as it typically seems like during a longer running blogathon all the entries will be in the beginning and at the end. Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.
