Superhero Shorts: Casey Jones the Movie

Welcome back my friends to another edition of Superhero Shorts, where I feature a superhero themed short film and ask a few questions to the creator. This time around I’m talking with Polaris Banks, who spent a few years creating a fan film centered around Casey Jones from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, only not quite the version from the children’s cartoons, but the version more true to the original comic books. As usual, you can watch the movie below, or you can visit the official website.

Superhero Shorts: Spiderman

Welcome to another edition of Superhero Shorts, where I feature a superhero themed short film and ask a few questions of its creator. This time around I’m going way back, all the way back to 1969 in what is quite possibly the first live action Spiderman movie ever, predating even the 70’s Electric Company shorts. This was the last of a series of 41 amateur short films created by Don Glut starting from when he was nine years old. As usual, you can watch this short below, but there is also a documentary featuring all of these shorts called I Was a Teenage Movie Maker. If you would like to get more information about Don Glut, visit his official website or Frontline Entertainment.

Superhero Shorts: Marvel Zombies: The Movie

Welcome back to another edition of Superhero Shorts, where each time I showcase a superhero themed short film and have a brief talk with the creator. This week I’m talking with Jim Ojala and his teaser trailer based on the popular run of the Marvel Zombies storyline where most of the Marvel superheroes had been turned into zombies and ended up attacking and killing those who they were trying to protect. I’ve kind of been wanting to do something horror themed, and as there isn’t always a lot of horror/superhero crossover, I thought this was a great choice. As usual, you can watch it below, or you can view it on Jim Ojala’s YouTube channel, and you can also visit his official website to see some of his other work and what he is currently working on.

Superhero Shorts: City of Titans

Ok, it’s not entirely a traditional Superhero Shorts, there is a YouTube clip involved, but this is really about an upcoming independent game that was inspired by one of my favorite games of all time, City of Heroes. If you haven’t played City of Heroes, you missed out because it ran for many years before being shut down about a year ago now. After the shutdown announcement, there was an almost immediate push by a group of players to create a new game inspired by the old one we loved so much. Eventually that group of players split into two groups, and only a few days ago one of them, Missing Worlds Media, have gotten to the point where they were able to launch a Kickstarter campaign to secure funds to finish the game, and they were also able to take a little time out of their busy schedule to answer a few of my questions about the project. You can visit and contribute to the Kickstarter campaign right here which is running until November 4th, 2013, and you can also view the kickstarter video below.

Superhero Shorts: Lazy Teenage Superheroes

Welcome to another edition of Superhero Shorts, where I feature a superhero themed short film and ask a few questions with the creator. Today I’m talking with Michael Ashton who made a short film about a group of slacker teenagers who happen to have super powers. He did it for practically no money with his friends and did most of the impressive special effects work himself. As usual, you can watch it below, or you can watch it at the official website.
