Filmwhys Raw #4 The Bad Samaritan Must Die interview

Welcome to another episode of Filmwhys Raw, this time around I was able to talk with a couple filmmakers responsible for the superhero movie The Bad Samaritan Must Die which I reviewed recently. Click here to listen to us talk about the film, some of their earlier short films, their plans to make a sequel/prequel to The Bad Samaritan Must Die called Dawn of the Bad Samaritan, and some other tangents.

Filmwhys #24 Saving Private Ryan and Constantine

I’m still truckin’ with these podcasts and still havin’ a lot of fun with them. This time around on the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast my guest is Ryan McNeil from The Matinee who asks me why I haven’t seen Saving Private Ryan, Steven Spielburg’s epic World War II movie about a group of soldiers trekking across war-torn Europe to find a single soldier and bring him home. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Constantine, with Keanu Reeves playing John Constantine who has the ability to see angels and demons who are all around us and is stuck on Earth fighting the demons to try and win his way back into Heaven when his life runs out.

Filmwhys Raw #3

Welcome to another episode of Filmwhys Raw, the show between regular episodes of Filmwhys where I talk to a guest or two about a movie related topic for a little while. This time around there were some technical difficulties and I lost one of the participants and had to edit around it. The guest I lost was Pat McDonnell from 100 Years of Movies, but I was able to save my discussion with Matt Kubinski from CinemaJaw where we talked about graphic novels and movies adapted from them. Click here to Listen and I’ll be back next week with a regular episode, until next time this has been Bubbawheat from Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.

Filmwhys #23 Fargo and Hellboy

Welcome to yet another episode of Filmwhys aka the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast. This time around Justin Gott from Man, I Love Films and The Rambling Ramblers Podcast helps expand my Coen Brothers filmography by asking me why I haven’t seen Fargo, one of their best if not their best film to date. Featuring Minnesota accents, a wood chipper, and Marge Gunderson in a backdrop of stark white snow. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Hellboy, one of the movies that helped bring Guillermo del Toro to the big time with his imaginative take on the blue collar demon in a governmental supernatural research agency.

Filmwhys Raw #2

Welcome back to my second episode of Filmwhys Raw, where instead of discussing two movies I talk with a guest or two about a random movie-related topic. This time around my guests are Jason Soto from Your Face! and Clint Worthington of Alcohollywood and we talk a little bit about theaters and film festivals in and around Chicago and also get into some B-movie talk. Click here to listen or you can subscribe to the show on iTunes or Stitcher and as always, I appreciate it if you can give me a rate or review on whatever platform you listen on. Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.

Filmwhys #22 Before Sunrise and The Incredibles

It’s time once again for another episode of Filmwhys. This time around I’m joined by guest JD Duran from Insession Film as well as their podcast. He asks me why I haven’t seen Before Sunrise, Richard Linklater’s film that started a trilogy about a simple couple played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy who spend the night walking around Vienna and mainly just talking to each other about anything and everything. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen The Incredibles, Pixar’s love letter to superheroes combined with a smart script from also-director Brad Bird touching on much more common family issues like fitting in, a midlife crisis, and possible infidelity.

Filmwhys Raw #1

Welcome to a new format for Filmwhys that will hopefully make this podcast weekly once again. I will be alternating between the standard format of Filmwhys where I take a look at two movies with a single guest, and these Filmwhys Raw which might have two or three guests and it’s more of a free-flowing conversation with some movie-related topic to get us started. For this premier episode I’ve brought back the Vern from The Vern’s Video Vangaurd among other sites and we talk about “Making Time for Movies” while going off on a few other tangents including the origin of both of our online names. Click here to listen and as always, I appreciate any ratings or reviews you can give me and if you’re interested in being a guest on Filmwhys Raw, just let me know on Twitter. With generally less editing involved, these episodes will be going up shortly after recording, as this episode was recorded just a few hours ago before the Golden Globes. Now I just need to come up with a graphic for these episodes. Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.

Filmwhys #21 The Seventh Seal and Batman: The Movie

Welcome to another episode of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest John LaRue of The Droid You’re Looking For asks me why I haven’t seen The Seventh Seal, a classic Ingmar Bergman film with Max Von Sydow best known for the scenes where he is playing a game of chess with Death. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Batman: The Movie, the classic theatrical production spun off of the first season of the campy TV show from the 60’s.

Filmwhys #20 Double Indemnity and the Pumaman

Welcome to yet another episode of Filmwhys, aka the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast. I’m trying to get into a more regular schedule having a new episode up every two weeks on Saturday, and hopefully there’s something extra I’m working on coming in the new year. This episode my guest is Will from Exploding Helicopter who asks me why I haven’t seen Double Indemntiy, the great film noir thriller from the brilliant director Billy Wilder and in return I ask him why he hasn’t seen The Pumaman which doesn’t have quite as good of a pedigree, but was featured on an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. It’s a so-bad-it’s-good movie with a low budget, cheesy acting, and a crazy plot.

Filmwhys #19 The Gold Rush and The Crow

I’m pleased to have another episode of Filmwhys ready to go for you today. I’m joined by Todd Liebenow of Forgotten Films who asks me why I haven’t seen the Gold Rush, one of Charlie Chaplin’s greatest films from the silent era featuring his famous little tramp character. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen The Crow, the gothic supernatural revenge tale about a man who was killed along with his fiance and is brought back to life by a Crow in order to seek vengeance, it’s also the final film role of Brandon Lee who tragically died during filming.
