Superhero Shorts: Batman Evolution
Welcome to another edition of Superhero Shorts where I take a look at a superhero themed short film and ask a few questions of the creator. This time around I have the fun short Batman Evolution where Eric Gable used his martial arts training and love of both the classic and modern styles of Batman to create a short that shows how Batman changed from the comedic and campy Adam West style Batman to the grittier modern Batman started by Tim Burton and taken even further by Christopher Nolan all while using authentic Ninjutsu techniques during the fight choreography. As always, you can watch the video below or you can visit their YouTube channel.

Filmwhys #27 The Simpsons and Jack of All Trades
Welcome to another episode of Filmwhys, also known as the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where things didn’t go quite as planned with my scheduling but I was glad to put this show up earlier than planned where my guest is Nick Jobe from Your Face! who asks me why I haven’t seen Jack of All Trades, a short lived comedy with groovy Bruce Campbell as a revolutionary spy/hero and in return I ask him the question that has been burning in my head ever since I found out that he had never seen the Simpsons, my all time favorite television show where I have seen nearly every episode, and all the classics dozens of times and often bring up episodes which have made me familiar with several of the movies I’ve seen on this podcast for the first time.

Superhero Shorts: Resignation
Welcome back to another Superhero Shorts where I feature a superhero themed short film and ask a few questions from its creator. This time around I’m talking with Joshua Caldwell, director of a multimedia web short called Resignation about a very well known superhero who decides to walk away from the responsibilities shouldered upon his hero persona and instead sit back and let the events unfold around him, no matter what the outcome may be. You can watch Caldwell’s director’s reel below, or visit ResignationSuperhero.com to get the full multimedia experience of the Resignation short film. You can also visit his blog Hollywood Bound And Down for more information on Joshua and his podcast.

Superhero Shorts: Batman vs. The Terminator
It feels like it’s been a long while since I’ve had the chance to do one of these but I’m back with another Superhero Shorts and it’s a good one. This time around I’m talking with amateur animator Mitchell Hammond who spent 4 years working on this short completely by himself using digital frame-by-frame animation. He created a world set in the Terminator universe where Batman exists and is working with, or at least parallel to John Connor where he is trying to take down Skynet. As always, you can watch the short right below, or you can check it out on Mitchell’s blog along with other behind the scenes info.
Graphic Horror: Filmwhys Raw #5
Welcome to another episode of Filmwhys Raw where my guests are Jay Cluitt from Life vs. Film and Matt Stewart from Simplistic Reviews and we bring my blogathon into podcast territory and talk about some horror movies that we all think would make great graphic novels, including one or two that I might end up adding to my own list of movies to watch & review this month so keep an eye out for that as well. Click here to listen and as always I appreciate it if you subscribe on iTunes, PodOmatic, or Stitcher and give me a rate, review, and/or feedback. I always enjoy hearing what the listeners have to say. Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.
Graphic Horror: Born Dark Comic Kickstarter
Born Dark Issue: 0 Kickstarter
We’re just in the beginning of this Graphic Novel Horror Blogathon, but it’s not just about horror movies that are or should be graphic novels, it’s also about graphic novels that could become movies. And there’s a brand new one looking for funding for their issue #0 which will propel them into a full fledged series. It’s doing quite well at the moment, but still has a ways to go. It’s called a “dark fantasy” but it also delves into some horror elements. And I’m not just trying to convince others to back this project, I’m excited enough about it that I have backed it myself. And to help tell you more about this comic, I asked a few questions of the writer, Lela Gwenn. Click here to visit the Kickstarter page, or click any of the images to go there as well.

Filmwhys #25 Napoleon Dynamite and Defendor
Episode 25 of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast with guest Simon Connolly, writer and director of the upcoming independent film The Last Superheroes and short film writer/director. You can see his short films and a couple previews for The Last Superheroes on Vimeo. He asks me why I haven’t seen a low budget independent film that went on to great success called Napoleon Dynamite about the life of an odd teenager in a small town seemingly stuck in the 80’s and his odd friends and family. And in return, I ask him why he hasn’t seen Defendor, a low budget superhero movie starring Woody Harrelson as a mentally handicapped person who believes he is a superhero like Batman, but stumbles on an actual crime ring that he is determined to take down by himself.

Superhero Shorts: Forrest Fire Films
Welcome back once again to another edition of Superhero Shorts where I feature a superhero themed short film and ask a few brief questions with the filmmaker. Today I’m talking with Forrest Whaley from Forrest Fire Films who is probably best known for his many stop motion Lego animated videos featuring several different superheroes with a Robot Chicken level of violence, language, and humor, and he has also done the animated viral video the Duck Song and its various sequels. As usual, you can watch one of his films below, or you can visit his YouTube channel to see many more videos from him.

Filmwhys Raw #2

This time around my guests are Jason Soto from Your Face! and Clint Worthington of Alcohollywood and we talk a little bit about theaters and film festivals in and around Chicago and also get into some B-movie talk. Click here to listen or you can subscribe to the show on iTunes or Stitcher and as always, I appreciate it if you can give me a rate or review on whatever platform you listen on.
