A Big Thanks, and Upcoming Lamb News
I’ve got to start out by saying a great big thank you to all of my readers and Lamb members. As most of you know, or could have figured out by the large poster that was hanging out in the sidebar for a while, the Large Association of Movie Blogs aka Lamb has been holding their yearly awards. And from over 1,200 members, and probably well over a hundred genre blogs, I made it through to the nominations stage to be eligible for the best Sci-Fi or Horror blog. I really appreciate the votes of confidence and while I think it’ll be a tough challenge to nab the top spot, it feels really good to make it this far. Voting starts this weekend, be sure to keep an eye out and keep me in mind. Now, I was going to make a blog post about the parallels of mutant discrimination in the movies and how it can relate to almost any minority group, I’m in too good a mood for such a heavy subject. Instead, I’m moving that topic into my review for X-Men: The Last Stand, which is where it has the most relevance anyway. Then, I was going to compare the different actors that played the same mutants across different movies, but it turned into mostly First Class vs. the X-Men trilogy, and then it became late so instead I’ll just be writing a short post.
There’s another nice piece of news that I haven’t mentioned yet on this blog. I’ve become an official contributer to the Lamb. I’ll essentially be heading up a bunch of games, some old, some new. My first task has been to put together a tournament based around all the great For Your Consideration posters that bloggers have made to promote their sites for the Lammys. The first round just wrapped up the voting and I was amazed at the amount of attention it got. And after that tournament wraps up, I’ll be rebooting an old screencap game Invasion of the Lambs. It’s basically where I take a screenshot from a movie, replace the actor’s heads with lamb heads, and the game is to figure out what movie it came from. I’ll be bringing a slight twist to it. One of the things I generally don’t like about a lot of these kind of games is that there’s one answer, and whoever happens to look at the post first has the best chance of winning. I’d like to give more people a chance, so I’ll be blocking comments and awarding the first three people to guess via e-mail correctly. I hope that will help increase participation, and spread out the leaderboard.
The next game is a new one that I’ve come up with and it’s based around the logo made by 5 Word Movie Reviews which I then tinkered with and improved. Basically, I’ll be chopping out letters from various movie posters and creating a new word or phrase. The goal is to guess as many movies correctly as possible. I’ll be leaving comments open on this one because I’m expecting a lot of wrong answers, and reading the comments will hopefully give later guessers more ideas and a better chance of getting all the movies right. I’m also adding another element that each game has a single movie as an overall answer. The clues will be the word or phrase, and sometimes the actual movies used within the game. It will be different each time, and I hope there will be enough easy bits to entice people to play, but enough tough bits that the first person won’t get them all right. I’m really looking forward to this one, and have the first puzzle ready to go. I’m glad I get the chance to work with the Lamb more, and these games are going to be fun. Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.
