Filmwhys #3: Pulp Fiction and Blade

Once again I’m back with another movie I’ve never seen before and it’s another big one. In this episode of Filmwhys, aka the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film podcast my guest is Lindsay Street from French Toast Sunday who asks me why I hadn’t seen Quentin Tarantino’s seminal film Pulp Fiction. And in return, I asked her why she hadn’t seen Marvel’s first successful movie Blade.

And when you subscribe, you get to hear new episodes before anyone else. Also, for a future episode I need your feedback, tell me what’s your foreign Filmwhys? What is a foreign film you want to see, but haven’t gotten around to? Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.

  1. Enjoyable episode Bubbawheat. I think you have a really good concept with this one. Keep up the good work. I’m glad you got a chance to watch Pulp Fiction and that you enjoyed it. I did not know any of the influences either when I first watched it, but on the Blueray there is a great trivia track that tells you what film influenced a certain scene I suggest checking it out if you can.

    • Thanks a lot, while I’ve enjoyed all the movies I’ve watched so far, this is the only one that I could see myself buying at some point in the future. I’ll have to keep that in mind.

  2. That’s an, um… interesting juxtaposition you’ve come up with there! I’m just off to listen to the post now.
Foreign films I haven’t seen yet? The first one that springs to mind is Cinema Paradiso. Then there’s Battleship Potemkin, Metropolis (for shame!), La Dolce Vita, In The Mood For Love… and these are just off the top of my head.

  3. You have not seen Pulp Fiction? This I got to hear.

  4. Hey there, I finally got to listen to your podcast, since I’ve heard it being recommended in a lot of other ones. (Took me a while to find out it was spelled Filmwhys not Film Wise ;).
I think it’s an awesome concept an I’m going to listen to anything you put out there. That way I may also be able to catch up on some superhero movies, since I haven’t seen too many of them, sadly. Loved this episode, Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies and I can’t wait to see Blade!

    • Thanks for listening and commenting! Glad to hear that I’m being talked about and would love to know who all is spreading the love. I know I’ve heard As You Watch mention it, and I’ve been on a couple other podcasts promoting it too. Looking forward to checking out your new podcast as well, already got your ad edited into my next two episodes. Don’t worry about not having seen too many superhero movies, it’s a narrow niche with a lot of bad movies mixed in with a few good ones, but I enjoy it.

      • Yes, I think it was on As You Watch and some others I don’t remember. Aw, that’s nice of you 😀 Our podcast is a bit girly at times and it’s still in the beginnings so we don’t know where we’re heading yet… but it’s so much fun doing this stuff!
