That depends on the exact continuity you’re looking out; it’s varied whether it completely removes his powers while near him (and poisons him), or whether it merely reduces them as a side effect of poisoning him. Nerd counterfacts! 😀
Fair point but the main cannon shows it having a weakening effect, like when he fights Metallo with a heart of Krytonite 😀
I much prefer a weakened Superman than a useless one lying on the ground 😀
Now, currently. Silver Age it was “flat on the ground”. But I agree, weakened is better than “out cold”.
