Adventures in Podcasting
Apologies for the lack of posts here lately, Channel: Superhero has been taking up a lot of my free time (and the Sims has taken up a lot of our family computer’s time but that’s another story), but I have been making the rounds on a few other podcasts lately and I wanted the chance to highlight them so you can go check them out, especially since several of them allowed me to talk about things other than superhero movies. I will have another Graphic Horror post in the near future on Dr. Giggles so keep an eye out for that.
I was happy to join in the huge 100th episode extravaganza over at the Lair of the Unwanted with Jason and Nolahn who have both been on Filmwhys before. I gave Jason a slightly nostalgic Netflix game and there were a ton of other guests along for the ride as well. Check it out!
I’ve been on the Lambcast many times, but this was a fun one to do. The topic was “Get to know your Lambcasters” and it’s exactly what it sounds like. If you want to know what I actually do for my day job, where the name Bubbawheat came from, and what I used to write before I wrote about movies, give this a listen.
Fellow contributor at Channel: Superhero and writer at From The Depths of DVD Hell, Elwood Jones invited me to talk about a couple of my favorite fantasy films. Not the Lord of the Rings, but the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. I’m a big Jim Henson fan, and often his work outside of the Muppets so it was a lot of fun revisiting these films and discussing them with him.
While I have been on the Insession Film Podcast before, it was for an Extra Film segment so I was glad to be on an actual full fledged episode. Even though it was the first one without the fearless leader JD Duran. But it was still a lot of fun where I got to talk about more fantasy movies with Kenneth Brannah’s Cinderella and made a list of my top 3 fairy tale characters alongside guest host DJ Valentine who seems like he should be considered Bizarro JD, and regular co-host Branden Cassidy.
And to wrap things up with an episode that isn’t quite out yet (even though we recorded in December, but that’s a different story), keep an eye out for my episode that comes out hopefully soon over at the No, Totally! podcast where I mainly talked about how I got into doing a website about superhero movies, and I also discuss what I think are four of the main superhero films that were the most influential on superhero films that followed.
And that wraps it up for now, I’ll be back with a regular Filmwhys this Monday evening for episode #50! Halfway to 100, and make sure to listen as there will be an announcement in that episode. Until next time, this has been Bubbawheat for Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights.
