Superhero Podcast Review: The Movie Multiverse Podcast
It definitely feels like I’m back into the swing of things and one of the additional category of posts that I enjoyed doing here besides movie reviews was checking out and reviewing superhero podcasts. So I decided to search one at random, double check with them to see if they even want to be reviewed, listened to a few episodes, and here I am with the results. Of course, although I try to be objective in the general review, the final rating is completely personal as I do have my own specific podcast preferences. And those ratings come down to: Subscribe, Unsubscribe, or Selected Episodes. And if you do know of or run a superhero podcast that I haven’t reviewed and think I should check out, feel free to comment, tweet, or shoot me an e-mail at Bubbawheat@msn.com.
The Basics

Episodes listened to: 5
Episodes recommended to me: Thor: Ragnarok, The Last Jedi, Punisher season 1, Batman Forever/Batman & Robin
Release schedule: roughly twice a month
Episode Length: 1:30-2:20 averaging around 2:00
Audio Quality: Clear
Language rating: R
Spoilers: Yes
Production format: A single conversation between two hosts covering the latest superhero news before covering the main topic which is usually a superhero movie.
The Format
The two hosts: Casey and Joel spend quite a while discussing the superhero movie news of the previous two weeks+ since their last episode before moving on to the main review at hand. They usually cover superhero and comic book movies, but occasionally delve into other properties that are part of a larger universe like Marvel TV shows or Star Wars movies. The two have a good rapport with each other and frequently divert into various tangents. They spend a good chunk of time on the various news but also spend plenty of time on the movie at hand, discussing the movie overall as well as the various characters. It’s generally surface level discussion rather than getting into the nitty gritty which is perfectly ok.
Comics vs Movies
In the episodes that I listened to, comics were generally barely brought up. It might pop up here or there and I got the impression that Joel is not much of a comics nerd compared to his cohost Casey. The majority of the time is specifically spent discussing either the movie/TV news or the movie/TV show at hand (as well as the aforementioned tangents).
The Verdict
I quite enjoyed the episodes that I listened to with just a couple caveats. One is the episode length. As I had added more podcasts to my subscription feed, I’ve gravitated to relatively shorter episodes. I tend to prefer them to be about an hour at most while the shortest episode that I listened to was an hour and a half. The other issue with me is that I’m generally less interested in hearing about superhero movie news, especially when I listen to back-catalog episodes as it tends to be less fun to listen to old news (with occasional exceptions when news expectations differ wildly from the eventual reality). But the episodes overall were enjoyable and fun, the hosts seem to be similar in age as myself and I typically related to their tangents to old TV shows and whatnot.
